Cauliflower is a cool-season crop that requires consistently cool temperatures in the 60's and does not tolerate the heat or cold as well. For this reason, it is better to transplant than direct seed.
Prefers well-drained, fertile soil high in organic matter (can tolerate slightly alkaline soil).
Too much sun, heat or nitrogen can cause “ricey" heads where the curd separates into small, rice-like grains.
